Check Out: Asha Bhosle's look in Maaee

Check Out: Asha Bhosle's look in

Maaee

It's common knowledge by now that veteran playback singer Asha Bhosle is making her acting debut on the big screen in Maaee. We got a few stills of Ashaji on the sets of her maiden film

From the images it can be observed that Ashaji has been made to look older that she does in real life. This is because she is playing a grandmother and the makers felt that a few streaks of grey hair would make her look the part.

Principle shooting of Maaee is almost complete. The film tells the poignant tale of what happens when a woman is abandoned by her only son and then goes to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

Maaee is directed by Mahesh Kodiyal and produced by Subhash Dawar and Nitin Shankar. One of the highlights of the film is the title track which will be sung by none other than legendary playback singer Lata Mangeshkar.

Leopard strays into
Hema Malini's bungalow

The leopard, believed to have come from the adjoining Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP), was spotted by a security guard in the premises in Dindoshi area of northwest Mumbai.
The actor was not at home at the time of the incident.
Neighbours immediately alerted the park authorities who sent a team equipped with tranquilisers and a cage to trap the wild cat, Chief Conservator of Forests S. A. Thorat said.

Jaaved Jaffrey's injuries lucky for DHAMAAL series?

Jaaved Jaffrey's injuries lucky for DHAMAAL series?

Actor Jaaved Jaffrey will soon be seen again with double the laughs for the sequel DOUBLE DHAMAAL, releasing on June 24th...after a fun filled shooting schedule however, we hear that poor Jaaved had quite the nasty finale to the shooting!

The story goes that the team needed to shoot just one final scene at Mehboob Studios. However just before the final scene Jaaved Jaffery broke his leg and had to be admitted to a hospital! The actor was in such pain that the Director Indra Kumar and Ashok Thackeria in full support altered the scene and showed all the actors lying on the bed.

When contacted Producer Ashok Thackeria said, "The film is on its last leg... Jaaved jumped on the bed very hard and his knee and the ligament below the knee cap tore very badly. We immediately took him to Lilavati as we were in Mehboob Studios...the doctors examined him after X-Rays were taken... Luckily it was not a major injury but he was in immense pain to say the least. Despite the pain, Jaaved insisted we finish the shoot and hence we then changed the scene with the four boys together on the bed. Javed was brought with a leg support and crutches to the shooting floor, and we wrapped up the shoot and celebrated later on with Jaaved and the entire team!"

Sources tell us that Jaaved had also previously hurt his other leg during the first DHAMAAL...coincidence or lucky charm, since the first film was a super hit?!! We will have to wait and see! Till then here's wishing Jaaved Jaffrey a full and speedy recovery!!

Salman issues final warning ???

Salman issues final warning ???
Salman Khan is in a mood for revenge. The superstar is cross about his charity acts being interrupted by some people who are trying to cash on his popularity.

Salman Khan has issued final warning to all those who are trying to make a quick buck in his name. A case in point is his Being Human merchandise. Salman is cross about the facts that his brand is being subjected to copyright infringement which thereby is affecting his charity work.

According to reliable sources, 'Salman has issued a final warning to all those who are selling his branded merchandise in illegal ways. Since a part of earning from Salman's Being Human merchandise goes to charity work, Salman is losing his cool by noticing that his brand is being sold in illegal ways. Salman's main concern is that his charity work gets affected by this illicit trade and now the superstar is taking this matter seriously and might even take legal course if need be to curb the misuse of his brand.'

It must be mentioned that Salman's Being Human merchandise has become a craze among the masses, especially his young fans. Keeping this craze in mind, some people have started to sell fake Being Human T-shirts to make a quick buck. Salman has finally taken a note of this fact and has decided to take corrective measures to stop this trend.

With Salman's ever-growing stock at the box-office, his brand Being Human is also witnessing its effects by becoming one of the most popular brands in the country today.

Is Priyanka planting negative stories about Shahid?

Is Priyanka planting

negative stories about Shahid?

Shahid Kapoor asks Priyanka Chopra to clear his name after recent reports show him in a bad light
The Shahid Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra break-up happened months ago. But the two had unfinished business. As late as Monday night, they had a war of words.

Apparently, Shaks felt that PC was "planting" negative stories about him. When confronted, the actress broke down.

Says a source in the know, "Shahid is disturbed by stories that talk about him desperately chasing Priyanka to woo her back into his life. He has moved on and so has Priyanka.

But the stories didn't stop. The actor refused to take a stand though friends suggested that his ex might be behind the stories.

When he'd bring it up, she'd vehemently deny it or start crying. The actor would take her at her word and leave it at that."

All hell broke loose on Monday when Kapoor was termed 'a stalker' by a section of the media. The two have been in touch and meet every other day for script-reading sessions for Kunal Kohli's film.

Notes the source, "Shaks was extremely upset at being called a stalker. He decided to get to the bottom of the matter and confronted PC. The logic was, if he had to contact her he would do it in seclusion and not in front of 50 people at a party."

The exchange of words ended in an argument and left Priyanka in tears. Says the source, "She kept telling Shahid she had no clue why people were talking like that.

That night, a nervous PC called Shaks again to reassure him that she would sort the matter out and give a clarification denying that he was chasing her, if necessary.

"Shooting for the Kunal Kohli flick starts in three days and the two will be in constant proximity with each other for more than two months.

Today, they share a very professional relationship. Nobody needs to 'stalk' the other. They can just pick up the phone and talk whenever they like."

He said
Shahid Kapoor: (his spokesperson quoted on his behalf): "Shahid did get a call on Monday from Priyanka. She was upset and told Shahid that will give a statement to say that there were no calls to her and that Shahid was not stalking her. She assured him that she wanted to clear the air. Shahid was very disturbed by the false claims that he is stalking Priyanka. He meets her very often for readings of Kunal Kohli's film and doesn't need to chase anyone."

She said
Priyanka Chopra: "I am appalled by these reports. This is completely untrue and is just a figment of someone's overactive imagination. Shahid and I are friends and are soon to be co-stars in a new film. These are baseless rumours and frankly, very demeaning to both of us."

Earlier Fights
>> They fought on Valentine's Day as they could not devote time to each other on the ocassion.

>> Priyanka Chopra was very disappointed with the audience's reaction to her latest flick 7 Khoon Maaf and wanted Shahid to comfort her. He didn't oblige. She was furious and flew to Los Angeles on his birthday. The buzz doing the rounds then was that Shahid tried every trick in the book to bring her back in the country for his birthday, but the lady was too angry to consider any reconciliatory gesture.

>> The couple fought over a chicken dish at a restaurant. A vegetarian, Shahid was upset that Priyanka wanted to eat non-veg.

>> It was reported ('Please forgive me'; March 15; HiTLIST) that Shaks was going all out to woo PC back. In fact, when she returned on Friday from her Don 2 shoot, he apparently kept bombarding her with 'miss you' and 'let's work it out' SMSes.

>> Priyanka got busy with Don 2 and it led to them deleting each other from their social networking pages. They also had a fight when Priyanka got friendly with Ranbir Kapoor while shooting for Siddharth Anand's Anjaana Anjaani and she even went ahead to sign another film opposite Ranbir during this period, Anurag Basu's Barfi.

Devgn requests Salman to attach Singham's promo with Ready, which releases on June 3

Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan have recently been bonding over workouts and general fitness. Reveals a source, "When Salman saw Ajay's bare-bodied look in Singham he loved it so much that he immediately called him up and complimented him on it. Since then they have been discussing and sharing tips on fitness and health. "

When Devgn requested Khan to attach the Singham promo with Ready (releases June 3), the star personally called up his producer Bhushan Kumar and asked him to do the needful. AJ has even promised to show the film to Sallu, on his return from London.

Says an insider, "Everyone knows that Salman goes all out to promote the films he loves. Many people including Aamir Khan's Delhi Belly, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara, Ghayal 2 and Chillar Party have attached their promos to Ready's prints. "

Bhushan says, "It's a pleasure attaching Ajay's Singham with Ready. Salmanbhai put in the request. Ajay has also done a cameo in Ready. All the makers of the top films releasing in the next few months have wanted to attach their promos with Ready. "

Singham director Rohit Shetty says, "Ajay is dubbing for the promo in London. Ready is looking big and is expected to take a huge opening. Ajay and I had always planned for the first promo to come with it, so he spoke to Salman about it. The film releases in July. "

FOR YOU, TOO

"When most A-listers put down each other's films, Salman and Ajay promote each other's films. When Salman wanted to create awareness for Being Human, Ajay sported Being Human Tees at promotional events meant for his films, " reveals our source.

Sonakshi's Rs. 25 lakhs loss on Shirish's birthday.

Sonakshi's Rs. 25 lakhs loss on
Shirish's birthday

This was one Happy Birthday song that cost Sonakshi Sinha a bomb. Well, literally as she ended up losing a solitaire worth Rs. 25 lakhs in the bargain. A desire to wish her Joker director Shirish Kunder best wishes on his 38th birthday at the stroke of 12 on Monday night proved to be way too costly for her, what with someone walking away with her diamond solitaire that she had kept in her vanity van.

Informs a source from the film's crew, "The entire cast and crew of the film, including Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha, had planned for a cake cutting celebrations for Shirish's birthday on the sets of Joker. Since the film is going through a night shoot, it was just apt that the filmmaker's birthday was brought in on mid-night itself. When everyone walked down together to wish Shirish, Sonakshi moved out of her film costume and got into something more casual and comfortable. In the process, she also left behind her costly solitaire in her vanity van thinking that it would be safe and secure there. Little did she know that her moves were being tracked and someone was waiting for just the right opportunity to decamp with the item."

It was only later in the night that Sonakshi realized that her solitaire was missing. She did hit the panic button and started searching for it frantically but to no avail.

"As of now, Sonakshi hasn't lodged any formal complaint because she thinks it is futile. Her solitaire is such a tiny object, that the thief can just walk away with it without anyone noticing the act. She doesn't want to make any unnecessary hue and cry", the source continues.

Meanwhile she is ensuring that it is business as usual on the sets with no break in the shooting schedule.

"25 lakhs is no small amount for anyone but Sonakshi is maintaining a dignified stance", a friend of her says, "Most actresses in her place would have thrown a fit and possibly also halted the shoot but Sonakshi is just continuing with the shoot. She doesn't want her personal issues to bog down everyone else. She understands there are lots of stakes involved, what with the set itself costing Rs. 3 crores and requiring shoot to be completed fast so that daily costs can be kept at the minimal. Moreover, Akshay too is doing double shifts with Joker as well as Desi Boyz keeping him busy for most part of the day. She doesn't want to be inconvenience to anyone. In fact, it was only on late Tuesday evening when news break around the missing solitaire happened."

Ayesha Takia's next is a remake of 'Keeping Watch'

Ayesha Takia's next is a
remake of 'Keeping Watch'

Nagesh Kukunoor has bought the rights of the Taiwanese film 'Keeping Watch' on which his Ayesha Takia-starrer is based

Director Nagesh Kukunoor's Mod is an official remake of the Taiwanese film, Keeping Watch. The director had seen the film a few years ago.

Nagesh Kukunoor with the cast and crew at the wrap up party of Mod

He was so touched by it that he had decided to remake it for the Indian audiences by buying its rights.

Ooty setting

The film is a suspense drama and stars Ayesha Takia opposite Rannvijay Singh (of Roadies fame). As reported 'It's a wrap' (Hitlist, April 12), Mod was shot in Ooty on a start-to-finish schedule earlier this year.

This is Nagesh's second remake after Dor, which was adapted from award-winning Malayalam film, Perumazhakkalam.

A source close to Nagesh reveals, "He loved the concept of the film. He thought it was badly executed and that he could do a much better job."

Close to original

But the Indian version has been kept close to the original in terms of the plot and characters. "Though the story remains the same, it has been more Indianised.

Only some changes have been introduced in Raghuvir Yadav's character, who will play Ayesha's father, " adds the source.

Nagesh remained unavailable for comment.

The original

The story of Keeping Watch (2007) goes like... The sudden arrival of Han (played by Rannvijay Singh) provides a diversion from Ching's (Ayesha Takia) monotonous life as the proprietor of the family clock shop.

She falls in love with the young man who claims to be her high school classmate, but her bliss proves short-lived as he disappears just as abruptly.

Worried, Ching calls Han's parents, only to be told that he died many years ago.

Aishwarya & Arjun paired up!

Aishwarya & Arjun
paired up!

Few days ago the first-look of Madhur Bhandarkar’s dearest project ‘Heroine’ was officially unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival. While the news about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan playing the title role made a sensation, latest revelation about the leading man in the movie is equally interesting.

Buzz is that stylish actor Arjun Rampal will feature alongside Aishwarya. Not only that… It also said that he will play a grey role, a character who is smitten by Aishwarya and uses her to attain success.
Sources shared that Madhur will present Arjun like no one else has. “His look will be totally glamorous, and his character has grey shades adding twists and turns to the story,” added the sources.
While Arjun is working with the ace filmmaker for the first time, he has shared the screen space with Aishwarya in the movie ‘Dil Ka Rishta’, which sadly didn't make much impression at the box office….

Zarine to play a princess, again?

Zarine to play a princess, again?

When Salman Khan’s ‘Veer’ was turned down by Katrina Kaif, for reasons she knows best, Salman went on to feature her look alike, a model, Zarine Khan. The actress was introduced to the world of filmdom through Salman and she played a princess opposite him.

Zarine was criticized for her weight and many didn’t appreciate that she actually put on eight more kilograms for the role! It became quite difficult for Zarine to bag roles with big banners after this. Following which, the actress opted the size zero way and the magic worked well for her; she has an item song with Sallu Bhai in upcoming ‘Ready’ and ‘Housefull 2’ and ‘Partner 2’ in her kitty.
Not just that, grapevine is abuzz that Zarine is shortly making her debut in Tamil – titled ‘Karikalan,’ a period flick again! She will play opposite Vikram, the south actor who featured as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s husband in ‘Raavan’. Although Zarine is yet to sign on the dotted lines the news is confirmed, say sources. She is playing a princess in ‘Karikalan’ as well. It is said that the project will go on floors soon, and scenes involving Zarine will begin filming by this September. She is taking time off till then to practice her Tamil.
She was criticized for her weight in ‘Veer’ and the movie didn’t fair well at the box-office. Well, let’s just hope the magic works now for Zarine and Vikram down south…

The Happiest Marriages in Bollywood.

The Happiest Marriages in Bollywood.

So it appears that Arnold Schwarzenegger was a better actor than we ever imagined.
It was learnt recently that the former Governor of Californiafathered a childwith one of his employees, and his 25-year marriage fell apart as a result. It is being seen as just another bad Hollywood marriage.
However, focussing on the positives, here's a look at 10 of our couples who have made it work. They're stars, they're famous, they're in the public glare. And yet their marriages are the stuff of legend. Here's a Bollywood glimpse:
Gauri and Shah Rukh Khan
King Khan is one of those men who knows how to keep his private life private. His relationship with Gauri began when they were young, long before he was a star, and has stayed rock-solid ever since.
There have been rumours linking him to co-stars but none of these has snowballed into anything of note, while their wedding continues to give others in the industry hope.

Another Aishwarya in 'Always Kabhi Kabhi'

Another Aishwarya in “Always Kabhi Kabhi”

"Aishwarya will make you fall in love with her," according to Roshan Abbas, director of Shah Rukh Khan-produced Always Kabhi Kabhi. No it's not Aishwarya Bachchan but Brazilian beauty Giselli Monteiro who plays the character named Aishwarya in the director's maiden venture.
Monteiro, who played the role of Harleen Kaur in Love Aaj Kal, has been cast despite her limited knowledge of Hindi.
"When I was looking for Aishwarya I wanted a face which made you say wish she was my love. Giselli has that quality. When we saw her at the auditions, this quality of hers came out in dollops. With her innocence and charm, she will make you fall in love with her," said Abbas.
On her Hindi Abbas said, "It was a problem. She said if you change the lines I don't know what I will do. Don't change the lines and give me the script in advance. She had practised her Hindi a lot. She trained under a teacher to get the dialogues perfectly."
The movie based on the play Graffiti directed by Abbas is about four unique lives trying to compete with the pressures of growing up and the firsts that we all experience in school.
"The youthful music and the freshness of the film is surely its USP," said Abbas. "I had done quite a few shows with Shah Rukh (Khan) and while doing the shows, I suggested that the play be turned into a movie. He agreed. I have cast fresh faces because I wanted to make stars than getting stars to act in my movie."
When asked to explain the title of the movie, the director said: "Today's teens think many things at one time. They always want to do them but only kabhi kabhi (sometimes) do them. They are always in love but kabhi kabhi they fight. The essence of the title and the movie is 'kabhi kabhi jo dil kahe always wahi karein' (always do what the heart says sometimes)."
The cast Zoa Morani, Ali Fazal, Satyajeet Dubey along with Monteiro and Abbas were in the city to promote the movie and they had a rocking time playing the interactive game of sketch charade with the audience.

Raju doesn't mind delaying MUNNABHAI CHALE AMERIKA !!!

Raju doesn't mind delaying
MUNNABHAI CHALE AMERIKA !!!

What's common between GOLMAAL, DHOOM and KRRISH? Well, each of them has been making a rapid progress as far as churning out the next in the franchise is concerned. GOLMAAL is already making plans for the fourth in the series; DHOOM is well placed for the third part while KRISSH 2 (a sequel to KOI MIL GAYA and KRRISH 2) is all set to begin shooting in the second half of the year. The only major franchises which are still stuck despite the success of their first two parts are HERA PHERI and MUNNABHAI.

"PHIR HERA PHERI was a bigger hit than HERA PHERI but there has been no progress whatsoever on it despite an announcement being made around HERA PHERI 4," says a trade source, "On the other hand MUNNABHAI CHALE AMERIKA was announced years ago but has now been put on hold for one more year at the least."

Though there have been murmurs and speculations around the cause of delay, sources close to Rajkumar Hirani indicate that the soft spoken filmmaker is hardly a worried man and is taking things easy lest he begins anything in a hurry. He is making good progress on the script and doesn't mind it one bit if he has to wait a little longer for the third installment to go on floors.

"Things have to fit like a T when it comes to Raju's films," the source says, "Production house of Vidhu Vinod Chopra is like his own and he doesn't have any issues keeping his own film on hold if he is required to spend time on some other production in a capacity other than that of a director. He is a little occupied with supervising the pre-production of FERRARI KI SAWARI but in the process he is also giving finishing touches to MUNNABHAI CHALE AMERIKA. The film is certainly on his radar."

The source also reveals that while the film's story is ready, the script and dialogues too are in the final stages of completion. Well, all we can say is that we are ready to wait as long as there is promise of wholesome entertainment from this superb team all over again.

Double Dhamaal dig on SRK and Aamir - Tribute or a joke gone too far?

Double Dhamaal dig on SRK and Aamir - Tribute or a joke gone too far?

Call it a planned dig, friendly prank, an innocent jibe or plain humour but Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan are certainly finding themselves on the wrong side of the stick.

"The makers of Double Dhamaal, in an attempt to double the humour quotient of the first in the series, have incorporated scenes in the film where Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Javed Jafferi and Ashish Chowdhry mimicry some of the leading actors of Bollywood. Shahrukh and Aamir are two such actors", informs an insider.

Well, the inside news isn't resulting in any surprise element now, what with the theatrical promo all set to reveal these digs. While Riteish Deshmukh goes on to ape Aamir Khan, it is Javed Jafferi who does his own take on Shah Rukh Khan. This is not all as Arshad Warsi, in the getup of a Sardarji, actually brings on the mannerisms that are similar to Shatrughan Sinha.

"Director Indra Kumar is known for his whacky humour, something that he has never left behind ever since the days of Dil, Ishq, Masti and Dhamaal", says a close associate of the director, "The idea of his lead actors imitating these superstars wasn't an impromptu decision. It was in fact woven into the script from the very beginning. Other than Shah Rukh, Aamir and Shatrughan Sinha, there are close to a dozen off other actors who have been imitated as well in Double Dhamaal. It is all waiting to be unveiled."

The promo shows Ritesh doing a funny take on Aamir with references to Dhobi Ghat as well as Peepli [Live] . Arshad goes 'khamosh' while the best is reserved for Javed Jafferi who is reprimanded for sounding like a 'bakri' when he begins to imitate Shah Rukh.

"All of this is in plain humour though", defends Riteish Deshmukh when asked if the team had gone a little too far, "No one in the industry minds such an act as long as it is done with the right intent. Also, everyone is aware of what our team has done in Double Dhamaal; we are not hiding anything."

While admitting that there is a lot more that the film has to offer than just an act or two of mimicry, Riteish also adds that the cast and crew had the time of the life while enacting these scenes.

"We had to get this right. After all this is our tribute to Shah Rukh and Aamir", smiles Riteish before signing off.
