Salman, Ajay help Sanjay Dutt beef up for ‘Agneepath’

Once considered an inspiration for millions of fitness freaks, Sanjay Dutt has gradually lost the status of a fit actor. After being mocked by appearing to be overweight in films like ‘Blue’ and ‘All the Best’, the man has decided to get back in shape as he is all set to play villain Kancha Cheena in ‘Agneepath’ remake. And in this effort, his buddies Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn are going lend him a helping hand.

Sanjay Dutt, while shooting for a small role in Salman’s ‘Ready’, was given an exercise chart and a diet plan by the ‘Dabangg’ star. Sallu seems to be going all out to help Sanjay beef up for his next role in ‘Agneepath’.

Speaking to a daily, a source said: "Sanju is religiously following Salman`s diet advice. If all goes well, when Sanju starts to shoot his portion as the baddie for Agneepath in May, he will be perfectly beefed up."

Confirming the report, Sanjay said, "I had to do it for me and all my fans. I had to be in shape again, and want to thank Ajay (Devgn) and Salman (Khan) to push me to get back. Ajay inspired me to work out and get this look during the ‘Rascals’ shoot in Bangkok. He is like a brother to me."

Well, when there is someone as robust as Hrithik Roshan playing the antagonist, shaping up to perfection becomes all the more essential.

Director Rohit Shetty is all set to make another Golmaal, but this one will not belong to the popular Golmaal series. Shetty will make a re-make of the original Golmaal, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee in 1979. The film will star actors Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan.

On the insistence of Devgn, the director will be re-making Golmaal (1979), one of the finest comedies that B-Town has produced till date. Reportedly, Ajay will be producing the film and has already decided on the cast of the film.

To avoid the confusion between the remake and the Golmaal series, the film will be called as Bol Bachchan. Abhishek will essay the role that Amol Palekar played in the original, while Devgn will play the role played by Utpal Dutt.

Ajay chose Junior Bachchan because he is very fond of the actor and treats him as his younger brother. Mid Day reports that Abhishek confirms the news of the re-make, “Ajay was very keen that we do one, and Rohit has rewritten the script with such affection and so cleverly."

Even though Saif Ali Khan is frantically trying to uplift the sagging Box Office fortunes of his kid sister Soha Ali Khan’s beau Kunal Khemu by producing a film for him, mother Sharmila Tagore is completely oblivious of her darling daughter’s love life! 

Apparently, Sharmila didn’t even know about Soha’s relationship status until the latter spoke to her.Talking to a daily on how she disclosed her love life to Sharmila, Soha said, “Actually, amma didn`t really know who Kunal Khemu was! She hadn`t seen his work or his films. But she had once come to the sets of ‘99’ (in which Soha starred with Kunal). At that time, we were shooting a scene where Kunal was only in a pink-coloured bath robe. So, when I told her about me and Kunal, she asked `Who is Kunal Khemu?` Then I explained, `Amma, remember the guy in that pink bath robe that day? It`s him.` She said, `Umm... okay! Strange choice!`”

“So she didn`t really know him, but she`s got to know him and his work now, over the past one-and-a-half years, and the two get along really well now,” chipped in the actress.

When enquired her father’s reaction to her dating Kunal, Soha added, “Oh no no. He knows that I am a grown up and feels that it`s me who has to live with the person I marry, so as long as I am happy, he`s fine. Dad`s very supportive and loving, but he doesn`t really get involved in my personal life beyond a point. You know, you expect your mom to be the bridge between you and your dad. In college days, I remember, dad would talk to me about `How are money matters? Whether I was okay with the money I have or I want more? And also whether my studies are going well? With mom I used to discuss more personal matters.”

Talking of private life, both Soha and Saif have been honest about their relationships. “No, it`s just that we feel there`s nothing secretive about being in a relationship with someone. Even our parents were very open and vocal about their relationship. That too in an era when a Hindu and a Muslim being together was such a taboo. So I guess, we`ve learnt it from them,” finally said the actress before signing off.

Young Indian fast bowler Sreesanth's parents have been constantly pressurizing the cricketer to tie the knot as early as possible and as a result, Sreesanth too has decided to fulfil his parents' wishes!

According to the latest buzz, Sreesanth has decided to marry Bollywood actress Riya Sen, whom he has been dating for a while now. Reportedly, Riya and Sreesanth came closer while doing a commercial for a jewellery brand.

However, Sreesanth has denied the rumour of his affair with Riya Sen. "I am not seeing Riya Sen. There is no romance between us. We have been hanging around together and I enjoy her company, but only as a friend," Sreesanth said. Riya also rubbished the rumours on her Twitter page, saying that Sreesanth is "just a good friend".

Notably, Riya, from the famous Sen family of Kolkatta, was spotted supporting Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK) at the DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai, on April 13, instead of supporting her home team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). It is said that the ‘Sreesanth factor’ had drawn her to support the Tuskers.

B-town Irresistible Nana – the proud Maharashtrian actor recently gave the unit of his forthcoming ‘Shagird’ a reason to pat his back while the Delhi police clapped.

The story is Nana Patekar's rapport with police made it possible for the maker of 'Shahgird' Tigmanshu Dhullia to receive blanket permission to shoot at delhi’s hot spot locations for important portions of the film which includes India Gate. Because of the good relations Nana Patekar shared with the police, he got blanket permission to shoot at these locations. The long procedures of paper work and permissions were saved, not on this the Delhi Police force extended great help and security towards the veteran actor.

Tigmanshu Dhulia says, “ While shooting for the film I usually found Police to be very warm to Nana Patekar. I thought for a long time it was because they love him as an actor. However later I realised that he had a very special bond and thus permissions never were an hassle for us.

Not many know the fact that Nana Patekar has studied Figurative Art from J J School of Arts. He has always been very fond of art since childhood and was planning to pursue a career in the same field. Although destiny had something else in store for him and he found himself doing good theatre.

Nana Patekar continued with his sketching in a very productive manner. He started to help the police force and worked closely with them during the Mumbai Riots which was of great help to them. Even post the Mumbai Riots, Nana offered help to the police as and when required. He worked as an undercover cop for the Mumbai Police.

In his upcoming film Shagird, Nana plays the character of ACP Hanumant Singh based in Delhi.

If trade figures are anything to go by, 14-year-old Darsheel Safary is currently the highest paid child star in Bollywood.

According to reliable sources, the young actor, who is just three films old, including his upcoming Zokkomon, draws from anything between R 80 lakh to R 1 crore for each film assignment he signs. Not just that, he even endorses half-a-dozen products and charges approximately R 50 lakh for each.

But all this money talk isn't something that interests him. "I don't know about the money. My parents deal with it. I'm too young to handle all that. I just concentrate on my studies and my passion for acting. As for what I'd like to do with the money, I'll think about it when I'm a little older and wiser. By then, I'll also have made up my mind about the career I eventually plan to pursue and the kind of investment that goes into it."

Unlike most children his age, Darsheel surprisingly doesn't believe in the concept of pocket money. "I don't need it," he retorts. "My parents provide me with everything. Whenever I wish to eat in my school canteen, they give me the money I ask for. They've never stopped me from doing anything I like."

The actor, who made his debut with Taare Zameen Par (2007), which was also Aamir Khan's directorial debut, has just passed his class eight examination. And till school doesn't reopen, he has no plans to think about the subjects he'll be introduced to in class nine. "I've opted for a specialisation in commerce," he says. "But right now, vacations are on. I skate and play cricket and football. I'm also busy promoting Zokkomon, which involves a lot of travelling. I'm planning a screening for my school friends; they're very kicked about it."

Even though Darsheel started really young, he seems to have got all his basics right. Like most adult actors in Bollywood, he too is known to seek actor-producer-director Aamir Khan's blessings before signing a project. "My parents and I speak to Aamir uncle for suggestions all the time," he says, adding, "I idolise him because he's so sharp and intelligent. He knows everything like the back of his hand. When I finish my exams, I give him a call and we chat. I think he also adores me as much as I adore him."

Actor Ashish Chaudhary has help at hand for Playing the role of a sexy woman in ‘Double Dhamaal’. His good friend and co-star Riteish Deshmukh, who had donned the avatar of a girl in ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’, has been giving him free lessons.

Ashish learnt a lot of a woman’s mannerisms thanks to Riteish, who demonstrated his catwalk skills to Ashish and gave him a lot of tips which helped him while performing, said a source.

Ashish will show his ‘adaas’ and ‘nakhras’ as a girl who seduces Sanjay Dutt in a few sequences in the movie.

‘Double Dhamaal’, directed by Indra Kumar, is being produced by Reliance Entertainment and Maruti International. It also features Arshad Warsi, Jaaved Jaaferi, Mallika Sherawat, Kangna Ranaut and Satish Kaushik.

To achieve his beefy look in Rohit Shetty's Singham, Ajay Devgn worked on looking "manly". Says the director, "We've tried to achieve for AJ the physique of a man who could bash up 20 people, if he so wished. It's not a six-pack look. Anybody can achieve that with injections and steroids.

The manliness has to come through as he plays a tough cop who is from a village on the Maharashtra-Goa border. It is a raw action film filled with hand-to-hand combat scenes, something one rarely gets to see in movies in this day and age of high-tech gadgetry. Ajay's trainer Prashant Sawant is putting him through the paces."

Adds Prashant, "We trained for three months. Ajay plays a very tough cop. He needed to look the part by losing weight, developing more cuts on his body and appear more lean and muscular.

After training daily for a hour and a half, I oversaw his diet and made sure he maintained a high-protein low-carb diet every three hours. I then had him do a rigorous combination of weights and circuit super sets that incorporated all techniques including pushups and pull-ups."

Ask the trainer if it took time for Ajay to build this physique and pat comes the reply, "It didn't take him much time, Ajay has a great body and he has always been a fitness freak. It's not difficult for him to maintain it."

Hrithik Roshan starrer Welcome To The Jungle has been shelved. Announced close to a couple of years back, the film was supposed to feature Hrithik in the role of a wildlife explorer. However the film is now no more happening and the reason cited for that is change in market dynamics over a period of time which has impacted the feasibility of bringing it on floors.

"The film was special as it was a family reunion of sorts for Hrithik as well as Zayed Khan and Sanjay Khan (as the producer)", informs a source attached to the film, "Even though Hrithik hadn't signed on the dotted line, his personal relationship with Khans meant that there was no doubt around him featuring in the film."

In fact there was quite some noise made in 2009 around the film and Zayed was also supposed to act alongside Hrithik in this adventure tale. Also, Hrithik was taking personal interest in shaping his body differently for the film since due to its jungle setting; he was supposed to be seen mainly in shorts instead of designer clothes.

However, as things stand today, everyone connected with the project has moved on and picked up different assignments. Faruk Kabir, who was supposed to direct the film, made his debut with critically acclaimed Allah Ke Banday last year and is already working on another script. On the other hand, Zayed and Sanjay are working on an altogether different sports based subject. As for Hrithik, he is busy with his Agneepath remake.

"That's right, we have kept Welcome To The Jungle on a backburner", confirms Zayed, "It was a very big budgeted film and we had announced it in the time when 100 crores budget was a norm for any film. Guess what, sometimes even this sum looked small (chuckles). Today when the market is barely managing to revive itself, it made sense to keep things on hold for a whole before proceeding with such a budget."

When 'Players', the Hindi remake of Hollywood hit 'The Italian Job' was announced, it was being looked at with keen interest that which Bollywood actress would be roped in to play the part of Charlize Theron. Reason being the heist action thriller had an all-men cast with Charlize being the sole leading lady. While Abhishek Bachchan and Neil Nitin Mukesh were finalized for the key parts, Sonam Kapoor being announced as the chosen one led to a conclusion that hunt for a leading lady was finally over.

"There was more to it though with Bipasha Basu coming into picture as well", says a source, "Suddenly the film became a two heroine film. Since Abbas-Mustan had clarified that Bipasha was not in the film for a cameo but instead a full fledged role, tongues started wagging around whether it would be her or Sonam who would be re-enacting the all-important part of Charlize."

As it has been revealed now, it is an all new part which has been written for Bipasha as the makers wanted to make the film much more glamorized. So while Sonam continues to fill Charlize's shoes, Bipasha too joins hands with all the boys and gets into an action mode.

Bipasha is taking it light though and says that she would have always opted for the part that she is currently doing rather than that of Sonam.

"See, 'The Italian Job' has been taken to an altogether different level by Abbas-Mustan for 'Players'", says Bipasha who has also worked with the director duo in her debut film 'Ajnabee' as well as her last big hit 'Race', "Every character is pretty much pivotal to the film. In any case, I love this role more than anything else. It is like a hero's role and I get to kick butt. Even boys in our film say that they would have loved to step in.

We hear that Akshay Kumar and John Abraham bonded big time on the sets of their forthcoming film DESI BOYZ while shooting in London recently.

The common factor that keeps this chemistry kicking is their obsession with body sculpting. Both John Abraham and Akshay Kumar are known for their fitness regimes. So, according to sources, when Akshay and John were shooting together they would often work out together and take tips from each other regarding their fitness regimes.


Akshay and John have done the same earlier too when they worked together in GARAM MASALA. Now, DESI BOYZ has given them another chance to work together and bond over discussions over fitness routines and exchange tips from each other.

DESI BOYZ, will mark the directorial debut of Rohit Dhawan, the son of noted filmmaker David Dhawan. DESI BOYZ is produced by Akshay Kumar and also features Deepika Padukone and Chitrangada Singh in the lead.

'Dum Maaro Dum' has been in the news for allegedly damaging Goa's reputation, that controversial item number by Deepika Padukone, and reports that Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman are upset because of the movie. But what's really new in the 'DMD' saga is that Vidya Balan is in the movie!

Reportedly, Vidya plays Abhishek Bachchan's wife in the film. The actors were paired together earlier in 'Paa', and that was a huge hit.
But Vids wasn't the original choice for the role in 'Dum Maaro Dum'. Apparently, the 'DMD' director and producers initially wanted Abhi's real-life better half Aishwarya Rai for the part.
So why did Ash say no? Apparently, Mr and Mrs Bachchan are being very particular about the movies they do together, post the not-so-great box office performance of 'Raavan'.
